Tuyen Quang hydropower plant
Tuyen Quang Hydropower Company was established on June 1, 2007, under the Vietnam Electricity Group. Operating in the field of power supply, the main objective of the enterprise is to operate the hydroelectric power plant stably, ensure efficient production, and serve safe and uninterrupted power generation for economic and political activities. Therefore, as soon as it was discovered that the relay system of unit H3 (342MW) had a problem, S5T and the enterprise quickly checked, analyzed and proposed a plan to repair and overcome. .
Condition of the factory before the project implementation
After 10 years of operation, the relay protection system for the units of Tuyen Quang Hydropower Plant has been seriously degraded:
- The relay has some bulging capacitors in the main board, the power card does not have enough capacity when the relay is working, the power-on startup takes a long time.
- Unit protection relay REG216 has no display interface, measurement parameters cannot be checked during operation.
- The fault recording function of the REG216 relay only records the normal current value, no phase angle, no pre-fault parameters, especially not reporting in waveform, so it is very difficult to analyze the data. Whether.
- The two relay blocks are not time synchronized with the DCS system.
The solution S5T offers to solve factory problems
Faced with that situation, S5T Vietnam Technology and Solution Joint Stock Company, the authorized agent of ABB Group’s products and services in the field of protective relays (currently a part of Hitachi Energy), has joined forces The company’s experts survey, organize seminars with the factory’s engineers to research and come up with the optimal solution for upgrading this system. Realizing the technical and financial capacity of the S5T contractor, along with detailed technical solutions and high compatibility with the existing system, Tuyen Quang hydropower company decided to sign a contract for the “Supplying” package. supplying materials, equipment and accompanying technical services for major repair of the protection relay system for unit H3” in 2017.
Results and evaluation after upgrading the protection relay system for Unit H3
In April 2018, after 1 month of installation, testing and commissioning, the relay protection system for unit H3 of Tuyen Quang hydropower plant was officially energised and put into operation. The success of the project has completely solved the limitations and existing problems of the old system, and made the operation of the plant safer, more efficient and simpler than ever.
- Installing a new relay system is no longer a matter of updating equipment and technology but also an urgent need to protect generator and transformer systems.
- The new protective devices REG670, RED670 ensure compatibility with existing factory equipment.
- The relay hardware is modular in design, and the PCM600 software is adjustable, making it easy to expand in the future.
- Ensure high reliability and redundancy when there are 2 digital relay systems operating in redundancy for each other (system A and system B).
- Analyze the causes of failures, and record and store details of events when there is an error signal as well as when a problem occurs to serve for fault finding and troubleshooting. .
- The interface is intuitively displayed to the manager by the large HMI screen right on the protection relay face.
- Simple and easy operation, convenient for maintenance, testing and adjustment.
- Easy connection to protection relays by means of a common Ethernet network cable and PCM600 software.
With the new system, the protection relay operates exactly as soon as the fault occurs, preventing the problem from becoming worse and also concluding the reliable operation of the new H3 unit protection relay system. commissioning.
